My partner and I decided to take a trip to Florence planning to explore parts of Tuscany. We decided to go for a week which at first I thought might be a bit long but proved to be the perfect amount of time

We were lucky enough to stay in a delightful hotel `Grand Hotel Villa Medici` which turned out to be a great find. Not only is it ideally situated just a 15 minute walk from the centre and the amazing Duomo, but to our delight the hotel also had a small well maintained and attended pool which proved perfect for a couple of chill out days

The Duomo is wonderful to see and surrounded by fabulous shops, bars and restaurant. Also check out the jewellery shops on the Ponte Vecchio Bridge and wonder how it doesn’t collapse with all the weight upon it.

Using Florence as a base head out to Siena for a day, Stop off for a drink in the Piazzo del Campo to people watch and then head up the winding streets to visit the Duomo.

We headed on from Siena to San Gimigniano which is a small walled medieval hill town and well worth a walk through. Look out for the famous ice cream parlour in the centre there’s usually a bit of a queue but well worth the wait.
