Located in Switzerland and surrounded by mountains, Geneva is a beautiful city and there are so many things to do here during your visit.

Visit the lake

The largest lake in Central Europe, Lake Geneva is pretty hard to miss when you visit this beautiful Swiss city, and you can choose to take a trip across it via boat from the quay at Genève-Mt-Blanc if you want to experience it in full.

Located in Lake Geneva is the Jet D’Eau, a fountain which propels 500 litres of water per second to a height of 140m and is one of the top tourist attractions in the city.

Explore Vielle Ville

Vielle Ville is the largest historic centre in Switzerland and offers visitors the chance to walk around a maze of cobbled streets and quaint staircases while discovering plenty of hidden gems, such as fountains and picturesque terraces.

At the top of the hill that Vielle Ville twists around you will find the cathedral which is another site that is certainly worth admiring during your visit.

Take a cable car up Mont Salève

Located outside of the city but easy to reach by bus, Mont Salève, also known as the ‘balcony of Geneva’, reaches a height of just below 1400m and visitors can catch a ride in an old-fashioned cable car which will take them close to the summit in just five minutes.

From here you will be able to take in amazing views of the city, Lake Geneva, and can see Mont Blanc in the distance too. There are also cafes where you can purchase refreshments and the opportunity to walk through the alpine landscape where you can spot cattle wearing traditional cowbells.

Eat cheese fondue

You simply cannot visit Geneva without enjoying some amazing cheese fondue, which is essentially cheese melted in a pot into which you dip pieces of bread using a long stick.

Switzerland is the highest consumer of cheese in the world so don’t miss this opportunity to join in and eat lots of it!

With these things to do in Geneva you’ll be able to enjoy a fun-filled city break full of culture and amazing views.
