As the capital of Spain, Barcelona is just as vibrant and diverse as you can imagine, and a weekend here is guaranteed to be full of fun and adventure.

Here, we share three things to do in Barcelona that you simply cannot miss when you visit this unique and fascinating city.

Las Ramblas

Las Ramblas is a 1.2km long tree-lined boulevard that runs through the heart of the city, and its bustling atmosphere and constant entertainment is sure to draw you in. Wander down here and you will see a selection of street performers, including some impressive living statues, plus artists, and other interesting performances too.

This is also where you will find the Christopher Columbus monument which looks out to sea, and although there are plenty of shops and restaurants lining the boulevard you should avoid these if you are on a budget!

Sagrada Família

Started in 1882, this amazingly unique church is still incomplete after over a century, but once it is finished it will be the tallest church building in the world, and you simply won’t see another design like it!

This building comes straight from the mind of talented architect Antoni Gaudí and combines a number of different styles, including Art Nouveau and Late-Gothic, making it a truly mesmerising place to wander around. Book tickets in advance to secure your space!

Park Güell

Yet another Antoni Gaudí masterpiece, Park Güell is made up of striking mosaics, fountains, sculptures, and beautiful gardens. From the main terrace, you will be treated to unbeatable views across the garden and the rest of Barcelona, and you can sit on one of the famous serpentine benches which you will see on many of the city’s postcards.

During your time in Park Güell, you might also like to visit the museum which is set in Gaudí’s former home and features furniture designed by the architect. Don’t forget to have you photo taken in front of the Gaudí dragon which you will find at the entrance too!
