Cycling holidays offer a great chance to explore new places while being active, and can be enjoyed whether you are already a keen cyclist or you just want to try something new.
Here we share our advice on things to take on a cycling holiday so that you have all that you need to ensure that you have a great time.
Which bike?
If you already own a bike it may be that you'd like to take that on holiday with you rather than hire one, and this is very easy if you are travelling to your holiday destination by car but it could get expensive if you are hoping to fly there.
However, hiring a bike when you get there will cost money too so it is worth working out the price of each option before you decide what you would like to do.
Cycling clothing
Being comfortable is key when on a cycling holiday, so the clothes that you take to wear are very important and you should try to be prepared for whatever the weather brings while you are away.
If you are planning long bike roads then padded shorts are a must, you can always wear cycling tights underneath them if you prefer a bit of leg coverage, or if you are going somewhere that may be cold.
A selection of long and short sleeved cycling tops, a lightweight waterproof jacket and cycling gloves should also make it into your luggage, along with a helmet to keep you safe and a backpack so that you can carry anything that you may need while you are out and about.
Cycling extras
Should your destination be somewhere warm and sunny you will need to pack some sun cream and sunglasses, plus you may want something you can use to protect your neck from the sun too.
We also suggest packing a first aid kit and a puncture kit so that you can cope with any problems that may come your way.
By remembering all of these things to take on a cycling holiday you can be sure that you will have an amazing time away on two wheels.
